Methanol
Methanol can be purchased locally from a number of different sources. Chemical suppliers, fuel distributors and auto racing shops sell it in 55 gallon steel drums. Methanol used in the BioPro must be 99.99% pure.
The price of methanol can vary greatly from less than $2.00 per gallon to as much as $5.00 per gallon depending on where you live and who you buy it from.
Since Methanol is your most expensive input in the biodiesel-making process, we recommend you research your available options.

Sodium or Potassium Hydroxide

The BioPro™ processors will accept sodium hydroxide (NaOH) or potassium hydroxide (KOH) as their base catalyst. NaOH must be at least 98% pure. KOH must be a minimum of 90% pure. These are common chemicals and can be purchased from chemical or agriculture supply stores.

Sulfuric Acid

The sulfuric acid used by the BioPro™ processors must have a minimum purity of 93%. Some drain openers are composed of sulfuric acid of sufficient purity, but many of these may change their formulas from time to time, or include diluting agents.
